Have you ever heard of Rumesa Gelgi? Rumesa holds the world record for the tallest woman. Rumesa Gelgi is 26 years old from Safranbol, Turkey. With her height of 7 feet 7 inches, she holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest woman in the world. But Rumesa’s height is not natural. She grew taller than normal because of a disease called Weaver’s Syndrome.
Rumesa was diagnosed with Weaver’s syndrome when she was four months old. Symptoms of this disease include abnormal growth of bones, stretching of the face and feet, hoarseness of the throat with stretching of the throat, and relaxation of the muscles. Due to Weaver’s Syndrome, Rumesa grew to 5 feet 8 inches tall by the time she was 6 years old. As a result, Rumesa had the form of a child implanted in an adult’s body. There are only 50 people with this disease in the whole world.
Remesa is fighting for her life due to this disease. Her journey is difficult. Need a special van. The plane is fine. However, an airline called Turkish Air made Rumesa’s journey easier by converting 6 seats into a stretcher for her.
