Because most of the star players who made noise in T20 International are currently in the team.  But, they are yet to prove themselves in the ODI format. 1. Hardik Pandya: Team India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was recently named the vice-captain for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.  Pandya is known as one of the most dangerous players in the T20 format.  But he is yet to prove himself in the ODI format.  Looking at Pandya's ODI career, he played 66 ODIs for India.  In this he scored 1386 runs.  He scored 8 fifties in this format.  But so far Hardik has not scored a century in ODIs.  In such situations, he will have to prove himself before the World Cup in the ODI format.
