Tension prevailed across Telangana on Monday after the Congress called for agitations in support of the serpents. High tension continued for hours near Gandhi Bhavan and Revanth’s house. However, TPCC president Revanth Reddy said that arrests will not stop them. He warned the BRS government that the Congress will fight till the funds are released to the Gram Panchayats. The surroundings of Gandhi Bhavan shook with the agitations of the Congress. Congress called for dharnas and Rastaroks in support of the serpents, creating tense situations.
As the Congress workers came on the roads demanding the release of funds to the Gram Panchayats, there was high tension across the state. The police arrested Congress leaders everywhere and placed them under house arrest. Activists who tried to besiege Pragati Bhavan were detained. However, as the police stopped the Congress ranks who tried to go to Dharna Chowk from Gandhi Bhavan, the neighborhood was in chaos.
Before that, the tense atmosphere continued near the house of TPCC President Revanth. First, the police put Revanth under house arrest, and then the situation escalated when he was forcibly detained. The tense situation shifted from Gandhi Bhavan and Revanth’s house to Bollaram Police Station. After Revanth Reddy was arrested and taken to Bollaram Police Station, activists besieged the PS. After about two-and-a-half hours of hydra, the police released Revanth.
