Meanwhile, in this election campaign, the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ created a stir in the country including Karnataka. The opposition, including the Congress, alleged that the film made some false claims and that the film was meant to destroy religious harmony in the country. On the other hand, BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested everyone to watch this film. According to the Gerua camp, the film has exposed a new face of terrorism. Thus, two different opinions are being expressed about this film in the Karnataka campaign stage. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi spent some free time with his family after the campaign. Union Minister Pahlad Joshi along with his family watched the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ in a cinema hall in Hubli.

After watching ‘The Kerala Story’, Prahlad Joshi took to Twitter to congratulate the makers of the film. “The movie The Kerala Story raises a very relevant issue. Anti-Indian forces are trying to damage the social structure of our country in any way possible. The whole team of the film has put in a brilliant and brave effort. Prahlad Joshi tweeted, “I appreciate the director and producers who presented this story.”

Political uproar has started in many parts of the country over this movie. Mamata Banerjee’s government in West Bengal has announced a ban on the screening of the film. Although no official orders have been issued in Tamil Nadu in this regard, the hall owners stopped the screening fearing vandalism if the film was screened. On the other hand, tax exemption has been announced on the screening of this film in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Directed by Sudeepto Sen, The Kerala Story released on 5th May. The film Kerala Story tells the story of three women from Kerala. It shows how they were converted and became sex slaves in the ISIS militant group in Syria.. It shows the violence against women under ISIS.
