Police on Wednesday (January 25) arrested Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Shahid Manzoor’s son Nawazish Sahid in connection with the collapse of a four-storey building in Lucknow’s Hazratganj. The police made an arrest in Meerut last night in Alaya apartment case. The police took Nawaz into custody and after questioning him for about an hour, he was taken to Lucknow around 1.30 pm. Besides, MLA Shahid Manzoor’s family has also been issued notices not to leave the city. The video of the arrest is currently going viral on social media.

About 12 years ago (2009) Alaya Apartment was constructed with 12 flats in an area of ​​about 4,000 square feet. According to the then market value of Rs.36.3 lakhs, Nawajish Manzoor only paid Rs. He bought it for 20 lakhs. Later, MLA Manzoor’s granddaughter and Nawajish’s daughter Alaya was named after the apartment. Earthquake occurred in many places in North India on Tuesday afternoon. Its intensity was recorded as 5.8 on the Richter scale. As a result, the building collapsed at 6.45 pm yesterday. Residents of this 4-storey apartment were trapped under the rubble as there was no emergency exit facility. In this incident, the rescue team rescued 14 people while three died in the last 14 hours. Relief efforts are still ongoing. The UP government has appointed a three-member committee to find out the reasons behind the collapse. District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar said that the reasons for the collapse of the building are yet to be ascertained and NDRF and SDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations to rescue those trapped under the debris.
