In the 16th season of the Indian Premier League, Mohammad Siraj has been bowling brilliantly for RCB. In the match against Punjab Kings on Thursday, Siraj played a decisive role with 21 runs and 4 wickets in four overs. Along with this, Siraj also became the purple cap holder. However, while recalling his bad days, he told how the lockdown changed his fortune.
On getting the Purple Cap, Siraj said, “Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the Purple Cap in 2016. But instead of Bhuvi I took the purple cap. At the same time I dreamed of getting the purple cap one day. Now that I have got it, I am very happy,” he said.
Siraj also revealed the secret of his success. Siraj said, “IPL 2019 was very bad for me. I became very expensive. But, the lockdown has changed me. I did gym during lockdown. Practiced bowling a lot. I won in ODIs. I tried to repeat the same success in IPL too’ he said.
Siraj kept Captain Kohli’s faith..
Siraj has already given the credit for his success to Virat Kohli. Despite a very poor performance in 2019, RCB retained Siraj because of skipper Virat Kohli. In 2020, Siraj lives up to this belief. Since then he never looked back.
Siraj was able to make his Test debut for India during the tour of Australia in 2020 due to his impressive performance in the IPL. Siraj has now become Team India’s front line bowler in ODIs and Tests. Siraj also played a vital role in RCB’s success. Siraj is getting dusty in the powerplay. Due to this, the opposing team is under pressure. He increased the aggression in the power play with the most dot balls.
