Suresh Raina, popularly known as ‘Mr IPL’, became the first player in the history of the tournament to remain unbeaten on 99 runs. Yes, he scored an unbeaten 99 against the home team in the 2013 IPL season at Hyderabad. Batting first, CSK scored 223/3 in 20 overs. Also won the match by 77 runs.
In IPL 2019, Punjab Kings’ Chris Gayle remained unbeaten on a personal score of 99 runs against his former IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Recently the same happened to Shikhar Dhawan in IPL 2023, Season 16. He scored an unbeaten 99 off 66 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Thus, Gabbar became the fourth player to remain unbeaten at 99 runs in the IPL records.
