If Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings win the next 1 match, they will secure the playoff spot. Because Gujarat Titans with 16 points will enter the playoffs with 18 points if they win one of the next 2 matches. Also CSK team with 15 points will reach 17 points if they win one of the 2 matches. With this CSK will confirm playoffs with 2nd or 3rd place.
But now there is a competition between 4 teams to appear in 3rd and 4th positions. That means RCB, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants who have scored 12 points have 2 more matches left. Currently 3rd in the table with 14 points, Mumbai Indians are sure to enter the playoffs with 18 points if they win their next 2 matches. If Mumbai Indians win the next 2 matches, RCB will pave the way for the playoffs.
That means Mumbai Indians will face Lucknow Super Giant in the next match. Lucknow, who already have 13 points, can secure the playoffs with a total of 17 points if they win the next 2 matches.
If Lucknow Supergiant loses in the match against Mumbai Indians, it will be a boon for RCB. This means that Lucknow team is currently at the 4th position in the points table. If Lucknow lose their next match against Mumbai Indians, RCB can win against SRH and move to 4th position with 14 points. In the last match, Lucknow Super Giants won by 15 points. The same RCB can reach 4th position in the points table with 16 points and qualify for the playoffs if they get a huge win in their last match.
That means Mumbai Indians should win here against Lucknow Super Giant. If Mumbai Indians lose the match against Lucknow Supergiant, there will be a playoff battle between RCB and Mumbai.
In the playoff competition, Punjab Kings team, Shikhar Dhawan’s team will play Delhi Capitals, SRH in the last 2 matches. If Punjab Kings win these two matches, they can reach the 4th position in the points table with a total of 16 points. But the plus point for RCB team here is that RCB will play the last match against Gujarat Titans in the league stage. RCB have a high chance of entering the playoffs by breaking the net run rate target in this match to be held in Bangalore.
In the current circumstances, a win for Mumbai Indians against Lucknow Supergiant is in every way a boon for RCB. In a sense, RCB’s playoff fate is in the hands of Mumbai Indians.
