Team India played the last T20 series against New Zealand in the month of February. Now exactly 6 months later, they will play the T20 series against the West Indies. The Indian team will tour the West Indies for the three formats of the cricket series. At the end of the West Indies tour, the Indian team will enter the field in the T20 series.
India will start the Test series against the Caribbean team from July 12, followed by the ODI series. Finally, the West Indies tour will conclude with a 5-match T20 series from August 3. Heading to the West Indies for this triangular series.
However, it is reported that many senior faces who are playing Test and ODI series will be kept away from the T20 series. Also, Hardik Pandya, who took over the captaincy of the Indian T20 team after the T20 World Cup, will also lead the team against the West Indies.
According to reports, senior Indian players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami will not be included in the T20 squad. Although Pandya has not been chosen as the official captain of the T20 team, it seems that he is likely to take charge soon.
Pandya led Gujarat Titans to the title in his debut edition in 2022. He led the team to the finals in the 16th edition of IPL as well. But, in the final match against Chennai Super Kings, he lost on the last ball and was disappointed.
Now the selectors of Team India are preparing to leave the senior players from the T20 team. There is a possibility of replacing the seniors with young talents like Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh in the T20 team. The 5-match T20 series will be held on August 3, 6, 8, 12 and 13. The last two matches will be played in Florida.
