Chhattisgarh: The Haryana government has announced finchan for trees that are over 75 years old. Haryana Forest Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar has announced that Rs.2,500 will be given per year under the pension scheme for trees. He said that there is a need to protect trees that are over 75 years old just like old people are protected. The minister expressed his concern that forest resources are being reduced and giant trees are being cut down indiscriminately in the name of widening roads. As a result, the greenery is drying up and pollution is increasing. That is why a scheme has been brought under ‘Pranavayu Deva Yojana’ to save the trees. Under this scheme pension will be given to old trees over 70 years like pension for old age. The Minister said that this decision was taken for the safety of ancient trees.
Meanwhile, the Forest Department has identified 3,300 ancient trees across the state of Haryana. All these trees are more than 75 years old. The state government has introduced a pension scheme to save these ancient trees. The Haryana government says that everyone should take responsibility for saving trees, without trees, human survival will be difficult. On the other hand, people are also getting good response towards this scheme.
