YoYo Test: Virender Sehwag made a key statement on YoYo Test. He said that many players would have failed earlier.

Virender Sehwag on Yoyo Test: BCCI took many important decisions in the review meeting held on the first day of this year. It includes yoyo test and dexa scan. After these decisions, former Indian player Virender Sehwag made a key statement regarding the Yoyo Test. Sehwag believes that many players like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly would have failed if this Test had been held earlier. The Yoyo Test has become the standard for Indian team selection over the past few years. Due to failure in this Test, many players could not get a place in Team India.

A fan asked Virender Sehwag a question about Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakraborty. Responding to this on Cricbuzz, he said, “I want to tell you one thing. Here we are talking about yoyo test. Hardik Pandya doesn’t have a problem with running, he has a workload problem because of his bowling. On the other hand, R Ashwin and Varun Chakraborty did not clear the Yoyo test. That is why they are not here. But I do not agree with all these things. Had these standards been in place earlier, players like Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly would not have cleared it. I’ve never seen one pass the beep test. They are always behind by 12.5 points.

Skills are important..

‘Skill required. Even if you are playing a fit team today, if you don’t have the skills you will eventually lose. Let’s play based on skills, you can improve their fitness over time, but applying yo-yo criteria directly is a different matter. If a player can bowl 10 overs with fielding, that is enough. Apart from this, we should be worried if we are having problems about other things.
