Four people were killed in the firing that took place in the early hours of this morning, causing chaos in the Bathinda army camp. Officials started a search operation immediately after receiving the information. Although it is basically confirmed that no one from outside has entered the army camp, they are also investigating the terror angle. The Punjab police are denying that there is no scope for a terrorist attack.

As the authorities told the people of the nearby areas not to come out of their houses. It is said that Insa’s rifle and 28 bullets were missing in the camp two days ago. It is also being inquired whether the missing of the INSAS rifle has any link to the firing. Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gulneet Singh Khurana said that something happened inside.. The army did not share the details. SSP Khurana said that the ongoing internal combing operations of the Army seems to be an internal development.

“Unfortunate incident.. It has been confirmed that four army jawans belonging to the artillery unit have died due to gun fire. No other injuries to personnel or damage to property were reported,” Army HQ South Western Command said in a statement.
