Bank holidays are given in two categories. National Holidays, as well as Public Holidays. All the banks in the country are closed on National Holidays i.e. Republic Day, Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi etc. Public holidays are holidays provided by central and state governments. The holidays given by the central government are valid all over the country. The holidays given by the state governments are limited to that state. When is Ramadan holiday?
According to RBI official calendar, all public and private banks will have one day holiday on Friday, April 21 or Saturday, April 22 during Ramzan. But in Agartala, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram, Ramzan holiday will be on April 21. Also in Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Srinagar on April 21 and April 22. Two days are bank holidays. If you have work to do with the bank during those days, it is better to do it first or postpone it for later. It is advisable to check the holiday schedule at the local branch to confirm this.
