The Ambani family is one of the most prestigious families in the country. This family is known not only for business but also for family values.
Luxury lifestyles, expensive cars, watches, a lifestyle that combines tradition and modernity as unity in diversity are often in the news. Every day new things about the Ambani family keep coming to the fore.
Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani’s house Antilia is one of the most expensive houses in the world. People are very interested to see the house. But not everyone can see Ambani’s house from inside. But even if you can’t see Mukesh Ambani’s house, you can see the ancestral house of the Ambani family.
The Ambani family hails from Chorwad village in Junagadh district of Gujarat. Here is an ancestral house that dates back centuries. It was taken over by the Ambani family in 2002.
Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Industries, was born in this house. This two storied building was converted into a monument in 2011.
This ancestral home of the Ambani family has undergone many structural changes over time. However, there are no changes in the original architecture. Dhirubhai Ambani’s living space, wooden furniture, brass-copper utensils, many other places have been restored. This house is a unique example of this family’s cultural heritage.
Part of the building was rented by Mukesh Ambani’s grandfather Jamnadas Ambani in the early 20th century. Gujarati style is evident in this. The building is constructed with several rooms including a courtyard and a verandah in the middle.
This ancestral property of the Ambani family is spread over 1.2 acres. Divided into three parts, the house is surrounded by greenery. One part is open for public visit. The second part is a private coconut palm grove. The third is a private courtyard. Now the premises of this building is divided into two parts. The first part is completely private. The second part is for the public.
Dhirubhai Ambani grew up in this house after returning from Yemen. After settling down in Mumbai and becoming a businessman, Dhiru Bhai used to come here with his wife Kokila Ben.
Once the Ambani family used to rent this place. But in 2002 this whole property was bought. It was in the year 2011 that Ambani House was established in honor of Dhirubhai Ambani.
This house is very special for Mukesh Ambani. The reason is that his memories are attached to this house. They used to come here in summer to spend time with their grandparents and family members.
This ancestral home of the Ambani family is open from 9.30 am to 5 pm every day except Monday. If tourists want to see this building, they have to pay an entry fee of two rupees.
